Aaron S. Coates, CFP®, CIMA An active contributor to the profession, Aaron founded FPA NexGen to support new financial planning professionals, which earned him recognition as one of the 5 most influential planners in the profession in 2007. Aaron spent 12 years at Compass Wealth Advisors, LLC as a partner overseeing the clients with the most complex situations and serving as Chief Investment Officer. In 2008, directly modeling Valeo, Aaron established the first “fee-only” comprehensive financial planning firm in Michiana, which he then merged into Valeo in 2009. Aaron is a NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor, a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) Practitioner since 2000, and a Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) since 2005. Considered an expert in income investing, Aaron co-authored Tools and Techniques of Retirement Income Planning (NUCO, 2007), and presents regularly on the subject to professional groups. Aaron graduated from Indiana University with a BS in Finance and resides with his wife and their four children in Goshen. Together, they are actively involved in Crystal Valley Missionary Church, RETA, and CBMC of Michiana. Paul A. Donahue, CFP® Paul graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration with a Finance Concentration from San Jose State University in California. Paul began his career in the pension and charitable trust industries. Prior to joining Valeo, Paul was a financial advisor for six years with another “fee-only” financial planning firm based in Indianapolis. Paul is a Certified Financial Planner™ (CFP®) Practitioner. He and his wife Stephanie reside in Fishers Indiana with their two children Sarah and Ethan and are active members of Holy Spirit at Geist. Robert J. Edwards, CFA Rob graduated from Indiana State University with a BS in 1993 and an MBA in 1997. Rob earned his CFA charter in 2005 and served as a board member of the CFA Society of Indianapolis. He spent the majority of his career as a Regional Director of Portfolio Management for Old National Trust Company and was responsible for overseeing the management for over $500,000,000. He worked with high net worth individuals, retirement plans, foundations and endowments. In 2006, Rob was appointed to Old National Trust Company’s Senior Management team and was asked to create and manage the newly acquired northern Indiana region. Rob joined Valeo in 2008 and currently serves as the Chair of Valeo’s Investment Committee and a member of the Management Committee. Although Rob works out of the Carmel office, he helps service eastern Illinois, western Indiana and the Michiana region. Rob resides in Noblesville with his wife Amy and their three children, Brayden, Chandler and Foster. Kyle W. Erb, CFP® Kyle graduated from Indiana University with a BS in Entrepreneurship and Management and a minor in Music. Upon graduation, Kyle joined Northwestern Mutual Financial Network where he assisted clients with personal insurance and investment needs. He joined Valeo in 2007 and became a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) practitioner in February 2009. Kyle currently lives in Fishers with his wife Jillian. They are members of Grace Community Church in Noblesville and active volunteers at Shepherd Community Center. P. Richard Evans, CFP® Rick began his investment consulting career in 1990. Upon graduation from Ohio State University, Rick spent three years working as a registered representative for IDS/American Express. In this position he initiated direct sales of individual securities, mutual funds, variable life insurance products and limited partnerships to individuals, businesses and families. In 1994, he joined Oxford Financial Group, Ltd. (multi-family office and investment consulting firm) in Indianapolis, IN. As an Associate Director of the firm, he led investment consulting engagements for some of the Midwest's largest families, ERISA plans and foundations. Rick became a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) practitioner in 1996. Since co-founding Valeo in 2002, Rick has developed a successful practice of working with both family and institutional clients. In addition to his responsibility as Chair of Valeo's Investment Committee, Rick serves on Valeo's Management Committee, the board of Valeo's Endowment Fund and actively serves as an investment expert for securities and trust litigation through his company Forensic Investments, LLC. Timothy A. Ginn, CFP® Tim has over fourteen years of experience in providing comprehensive financial planning and investment planning advice to corporate senior executives, affluent individuals and families, physicians and closely-held business owners both in the Midwest and around the country. Tim graduated from Indiana University Kelley School of Business in 1991 and began his career with Deloitte & Touche (Indianapolis and Cincinnati) . He spent ten years in the personal tax and financial services group, serving as the Practice Leader for the Investment Advisory Services team in Cincinnati. After leaving Deloitte, Tim joined a money manager based in Cincinnati, OH to help create, design and deliver financial planning services to their clients. Prior to joining Valeo, Tim spent four years as a lead advisor for a "fee only" financial planning firm in Indianapolis. Tim has been a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) Practitioner since 1997 and is a member of the Financial Planning Association. He is also actively involved in several local community organizations, including the Ronald McDonald House of Indiana and St. Mary's Child Center. Tim and his wife Sandy live in Carmel with their three children, Nick, Max and Marly. Bradley V. Harrold Brad graduated with a degree in Marketing from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business in 2002. For the first eight years of his career, Brad built his own financial advisory business with Linsco/Private Ledger and UBS. During this time, he gained extensive experience providing planning and investment advice to more than 150 families and businesses around the Midwest. Although originally from Noblesville, Brad currently resides in Carmel with his wife, Angie. He is very active in the community and has been involved with Noblesville Youth Baseball as a coach since 2006 and has been a member of Harbour Trees Golf Club since 2009. Matthew D. Jarvis, CPA, CFP® Matt is a 2001 graduate of Butler University with a B.S. in Accounting. Prior to joining Valeo in late 2006, he spent five years working for PricewaterhouseCoopers in Indianapolis, completing various tax planning and preparation engagements for corporations and individuals. Matt is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA ), Certified Financial Planner (CFP®), and an active volunteer in Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Central Indiana . He lives with his wife Megan in downtown Indianapolis. P. Chris Mickel, MBA, CFP® Chris received his BS degree from Ball State University in 1995 and began his career in the financial services industry as a credit analyst with a major commercial bank. Building upon his analyst experience, Chris earned an M.B.A. from Butler University in Indianapolis. During his postgraduate study, he fulfilled a three year commitment to develop his fraternity headquarters' leadership program. After receiving his M.B.A., Chris returned to the financial services field as a financial advisor with UBS Financial Services. In an effort to more broadly service his clients' financial planning needs; he joined Valeo in early 2004. Chris has been a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) Practitioner since 2005 and is a member of Valeo's Investment Committee. Although Chris works out of our Carmel office, he is also responsible for working with a number of clients in the LA / Orange County area of southern California. Chris lives in Carmel., IN with his wife Jacque and their sons Evan and Hayden. Justin M. Padgett, CFP® Justin graduated from Indiana University Kelley School of Business with a degree in Finance, International Studies, and Legal Studies. Prior to joining Valeo, Justin provided comprehensive financial planning advice to affluent clientele across the Midwest with another "fee only" financial planning firm. He became Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) Practioner in January of 2005. Justin resides in Fishers with his wife Meghan. They are active members of Holy Spirit at Geist. Chad D. Reed, CPA, CFP® Chad is a CPA and graduate of Ball State University with a BS in Accounting. He began his career with K.B. Parrish & Co., a mid-sized CPA firm in Indianapolis, specializing in tax preparation and planning for high-income individuals. Most recently, he started and led the financial planning division for K.B. Parrish; as well as continuing to service clients accounting needs. In an effort to better serve his clients' comprehensive financial planning needs, Chad joined Valeo in 2005. Chad resides in Indianapolis with his wife Nicole, and is active in the Indiana CPA Society and the Young Professionals of Central Indiana. He is also involved in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and a member of the Financial Planning Association of Greater Indiana. In 2005, Chad was recognized as one of "Indy's Best and Brightest" in the annual listing by the Indianapolis Star. Richard D. Seaver, CFP® Ric graduated from the University of Evansville with a B.S. in Business Administration, Finance Concentration. He began his financial advisory career as a stockbroker with Prudential Securities, Inc. In 1999 he broadened his focus to “fee-only” comprehensive financial planning by joining Oxford Financial Group, Ltd., and subsequently received his CFP designation in 2000. After leaving Oxford, Ric founded his own financial planning firm which he later merged into Valeo Financial Advisors, LLC. His clientele primarily consists of professionals, owners of closely held businesses, executives of publicly traded companies, and retirees. Ric is also Chair of Valeo's Endowment Fund. Ric and his wife Stephanie live in Carmel with their two sons, Griffin and Graham. Ric sits on the Board of Directors of the Arthritis Foundation, Indiana Chapter, is a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, and active with the Fletcher Place Community Center in Indianapolis. John C. Trott, CFP® John is a 1990 graduate of Purdue University with a BS in Financial Counseling and Planning. Until 1994 John practiced financial planning as a registered representative and licensed insurance agent for IDS/American Express and CUNA Mutual. John then joined Oxford Financial Group, Ltd. where he spent the next eight years advising high net worth individuals and their families on issues related to their comprehensive financial planning needs. In 2002 John co-founded Valeo along with Rick Evans and John Wortman. John has developed his practice by primarily working with successful executives, physicians, and retirees. In 2000 he was recognized as one of "The 150 Best Financial Advisers for Doctors" by Medical Economics Magazine. John is currently Chair of Valeo's Management Committee, serves on Valeo's Investment Committee and is the firm's Chief Compliance Officer. John is a NAPFA-Registered Financial Advisor and has been a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) Practitioner since 1993. He has been a member of the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) since 1999 and a past member of the Central Indiana Community Foundation's Professional Leadership Counsel. John T. Wortman, CFP® John has spent his entire career as a financial advisor. After graduating from Indiana University with a BS in Finance and a minor in Economics, John became a financial advisor with Prudential Securities. Following Prudential Securities, he joined Oxford Financial Group, Ltd. (multifamily office and investment consulting firm). As an Associate Director at Oxford, John managed over 100 client relationships with multi-million dollar individuals and families. John is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) and a co-founder of Valeo Financial Advisors, LLC. John serves on Valeo's Management Committee, Investment Committee and the board of the Valeo Endowment Fund. Over the years, John has formulated and tested numerous investment models and theories; taught financial planning at the University of Indianapolis; and has had his writings published in local business journals. |
